History of Victor GilleHe was French and came from Paris where he died in 1964, he is a legend because of many things, he came from a musicians family, his mother was a singer at the Paris conservatory he then he got his first piano lessons from LISZT himself ( he is rumoured to be one of the only pupils of LISZT ever recorded ), Victor became one of the most brilliant Chopin interpret on piano , plus he had " correspondence " with most of the french composer of his times , so was an obscure and influent person into the music of the 20th century .Gile was one of the best Chopin player, with an outstanding sonority, gave many recitals between 1927 to 1940 for his friends and admirers at his home at the Trianon Palace,Verseilles,at the Champ-Elisees and at the Salle Erard, often his concerts would take much longer than 4 hours.Victor Gille was a rich man and only made a few records for French Odeon in ca. 1933 & St ClOUD,and stated that "i don't need the money" Almost all Chopin recordings were made for private tapes.
